The amount of olefin is about 5% (mass). On average, 20 methyl branches or 13 ethyl branches are introduced into the main chain of MDPE molecule for every 1000 carbon atoms. The performance changes are determined by the number and length of the branches. Copolymerization can increase the number of connecting chains between small crystals.

 

MDPE is characterized by resistance to environmental stress cracking and long-term strength retention. The relative density of MDPE is 0.926-0.953, the crystallinity is 70%-80%, the average molecular weight is 200,000, the tensile strength is 8-24 MPa, and the elongation at break is 50%-60%.

The temperature is 126-135℃, the melt flow rate is 0.1-35 g/10 minutes, and the heat distortion temperature (0.46 MPa) is 49-74℃. MDPE can be processed by extrusion, injection, blow molding, rotational molding, rotation, and powder molding. The production process parameters are similar to those of HDPE and LDPF, and are commonly used in pipes, films, hollow containers, etc.
